    Lost season 4 episode 2 recap/summary

    “Confirmed Dead”

Wow, that was a really great episode. For those of you who
didn’t have a chance to watch it, you need to go online right
now to watch it. Don’t finish reading this post, just close this
browser window and go to ABC.com .

Episode two introduces us to four new characters with tons
of baggage. Episode one left us with the Lost crew awaiting
    to be rescued.

The promo from this week’s show had a gentleman, who we
now know as Daniel Faraday, tell the Lost Castawaysthat
saving them was not their primary objective. This had us all
worked up and wondering what the primary objective really
was. Guess what? They actually “sort of” tell us what it is. I
am getting too far ahead of myself here and I need to get
    back on track.

The episode starts with a Submarine locating the wreckage
of Oceanic Flight 815. We know that this is strange because
the plane had exploded and landed all over the island.

The new characters introduced in this episode are:

Daniel Faraday is sitting in a chair watching news coverage
of the Oceanic 815 story and he is instantly moved, but
    he doesn’t know why.

Miles Straume is a sprited chaser who is called to rid the
spirit of a slain grandson from his grandmother’s house.
He communicates with the spirit and is able to find a stash
    cash before he leaves.

In Tunisia, Charlotte Lewis finds a polar bear skeleton in
the middle of the desert. She also finds a Dharma
    Initiative collar in the sand.

Somewhere in the Bahamas, we meet Frank as he is watching
television coverage of the Oceanic 815 discovery. The pilot
and passengers are shown. Frank picks up the phone
and makes a call to the NTSB to let them know that the plane
is a fake. When asked how he knows, he says that he
was supposed to be the pilot of flight 815 that day and he
knew that the pilot aways wore his wedding ring.

    On the Island:

The “rescue helicopter” had to make an emergency landing
and several of the people onboard had to parachute out
of the helicopter. Daniel had crash landed when Jack
Kate locate him. At first they are thrilled to find him, but later
they become suspicious that he had a weapon and odd
supplies. When questioned, we cannot answer
why he had a gas mask and gun in his gear.

Daniel informs Jack and Kate that each crew member
has a GPS transponder. They rush off to find one of the
    other crew members,

We are taken to Locke and his bunch who are traveling
to the barracks with Ben. Locke want to stop at the cabin,
but Hurly tells him that he is going the wrong way. Hugo
isn’t supposed to know about the cabin, so he says that he
was talking about the plane cabin. Locke and Ben looked
very concerned. We learn that Locke is taking instructions
from Walt. At least that is what I got out of it, other people
are saying that he is taking orders from Jacob.

Jack, Kate, and Daniel locate another crew member who
appears to have crash landed at the same location where
Desmond had killed his hatch mate. Jack walks up and
sees Miles with his eyes closed, but he quickly pulls a gun
on Jack and Kate. Daniel tells him that they were there to
help, but Miles says that he knows that Kate killed
Naiomi. He forces them to take them to her body. They tell
Miles that Locke killed her and after examining the body,
he believes Kate’s story. Jack tells Miles to drop his gun,
but he refuses. Juliet and Sayid appear out of the bushes
    with weapons.
The game has now changed and Jack is back in charge.

On another part of the island, Charlotte is caught in a tree
and cuts herself down into a lake. She is quickly met by Locke
and his crew. She is shocked that they survived,so this leads
me to believe that the time period is AFTER the Flashbacks
that we saw earlier of all the characters. SHe asks why they
are acting so strange when they came all the way to the island
to rescue them. Locke told her that they don’t want to be
    rescued.

Jack and his crew pick up Charlottes signal and they can
tell that she is running away. They all chase the signal and
reach Walt’s dog with a transponder taped to his back.
They know that Locke has Charlotte.

A few miles away we see Frank crawling up a hillside. He
gets to the top and realizes that his phone is broken. He
pulls out a flare gun and shoots a flare into the sky.

Charlotte is back with Locke and the crew when they see
the flare go off. Charlotte wants to go find her associate, but
Locke tells her that they are not going. She tells Locke that
she doesn’t care if they don’t want to go. She tells them that
she is going on her own. Locke tells her to stop and suddenly
a shot is fired…by Ben. Charlotte is shot in the chest, but locke
notices that she has a bullet proof vest on.

Meanwhile, Jack,Kate,Daniel, and Miles get find Frank and
he tells them that he didn’t crash the chopper. They all look
amazed when they see that the chopper is down the ridge
    and in perfect condition.

Flashback to Naomi is shown photos of Daniel, Miles,
Charlotte, and Frank. She is told by the man that this is her
crew and she must make sure to prevent anyone from getting
    killed.

Back at the Island, Sayid checks out the chopper and
verifies that it is in working condition. Kate and Daniel go
to get Naomi’s remains and Frank calls the freighter.
It appears that something strange is going on at the
frieghter because Frank can’t get a hold of the person
who he wants to speak to. He asks Julliet her name
and realizes that she wasn’t one of the 815 survivors.
He gets upset and asks, “Where is he?” We pulls
    out a photo of Ben.

Sawyer is bothered when Ben tells him that he has no
chance with Kate if they get off of the island. Ben tells
Sawyer that he can’t compete with Jack the surgeon.
Sawyer beats the crap out of him. Ben shocks everyone
when he knows the whole life story of the four “rescuers”.
He says that they are there for him. Locke asks him how
he knows that they are there for him and he says that he
had an informant on there boat.

Dave Chappelle + Comedy Central = Crazy Delicious

Dave Chappelle made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday.  He opened up and told the Frey Killer the true story of what happened when he disappeared.  Dave says that after signing his $50 million deal, he just felt stressed out. He said that people were trying to control him and his show.  Chappelle decided that he needed a “spiritual” retreat , so he went to Africa. He has family and friends who live in South Africa, so he thought that it would be a good idea to spend some time away from Los Angeles.  The only problem with that was that he forgot to tell his wife or kids.   Dave says that he was only gone for two weeks, so it really wasn’t as mysterious an event as described by the media.

When it comes down to it, it appears that Dave made the same mistake that many great comedians make…they start to take themselves too seriously.  It has happened to most of the great ones…look at Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy.  Dave strayed away from just trying to be funny and started to think about his greater responsibility to the world.  I just want my favorite comedians to work on being funny and leave the political messages to celebrities like Susan Sarandon and Madonna.

Dave says that he would like to come back to his hit Comedy Central Show and have half of the DVD sales go to charity.

When it comes down to it.  Dave wasn’t crazy at all.  He just wanted to do a little soul searching.
