Watch Streaming Online Shows On Your HDTV

No GravatarHave you ever had a rough day at work and then went home and fell asleep minutes before the episode of “Lost” that was going to explain the entire series? What is a guy to do when he forgets to Tivo or DVR his favorite show? Do you run over to the neighbors house and beg him to transfer it to a VHS tape? No way!!!! You can always go to ABC.com and watch it on your computer screen. You’ve most likely already spent eight hours in front of a computer monitor at work, but what other options do you have?

You can always hook up your computer to your HDTV and watch it on your full sized television screen. Now that sounds like a much better plan of action. It only takes a few minutes and two cables to get the setup working.

Here is a short video that I shot that may(or may not) help you.

*Note: The video was put together in only a few minutes, so the first segment that shows the PC and Audio inputs is on the rear of the television. This was not explained very well in the video.

Now you’ve got Mr. T, Mr. Spock and Kojak at your fingertips anytime. NBC and CBS have just announced free streams of vintage TV episodes on their Web sites.

Online at NBC.com, the Way Back Wednesdays page features full episodes of such NBC Universal library series as “Miami Vice,” “Emergency,” “Buck Rogers” and “The A-Team.” (Who doesn’t need to see Mr. T in “Mexican Slayride”?)

CBS.com’s new Television Classics list taps the CBS library (vintage Paramount and CBS shows) for full episodes of shows like “The Twilight Zone,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Star Trek” and “Melrose Place.”

They’re also streaming “MacGyver,” whose mechanical ingenuity was just tested on Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters.”

NBC-owned cable channel sites Sci Fi.com. ChillerTV.com and SleuthChannel.com also plan to start vintage streaming this month. Expect shows like “Tek War” and “Night Gallery” (SciFi), “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour” and “Swamp Thing” (ChillerTV) and “Kojak” and “Simon & Simon” (SleuthChannel).

But remember, though you’re watching online, you’re still watching TV – these no-cost streams are sponsored by included commercials. Nothing comes free, does it?
